The 2011 summer field study will be held at Trader Ruin in northeast New Mexico. Through this six week course students will receive training in archaeological methods and have the opportunity to practice modern field techniques under the direction of Dr. Anthony Peet (Professor of Anthropology). Admission is limited to 12 students. Admission is by application only and priority will be given to current students pursuing a professional career in archaeology or a related discipline.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Tape Measure - Metric Only!
Leather work gloves
Line level and string
Angle finder
Protractor
Pocketknife
Ziploc bags
Marshaltown brand trowel
Dental tools
Whisk broom and 1-2 inch paint brushes
Silva Ranger Compass
Clipboard
K+E field notebook
Graph paper
Pencils (mechanical or otherwise)

PERSONAL GEAR
Appropriate clothing for hot days and cool nights
Tent and ground cloth
Sleeping bag
Day pack
Camelback with at least a 3-liter bladder
Flashlight
Work/hiking boots & camp shoes
Rain gear
Jacket
Towels/washcloths
Sunscreen & insect repellant
Toiletries
Medications
Spending Money
Other misc personal camping equipment
GPS and survey equipment, two-way radios and satellite phone provided by the university.

  3. That wuld be a little weird digging with a book character. Now with the author on the other hand... :-)In any case, this entry makes me excited for my start in college next year. I'm so looking forward to the fieldschools.
