Archaeology Isn't All Sunshine

Unbelievable. The high, windswept desert of Chaco Canyon is harshly barren and dry and yet we managed to arrive on one of those rare days it decides to rain here.
 Needless to say it’s too muddy to trek out to Trader Ruin, so after setting up a hasty and soggy camp, Dr. Peet led us to the great pueblo ruins within the Chaco Canyon National Historical Park. The ruins are incredible, and with the rain chasing the tourists away, we were privileged enough to have Pueblo Bonito all to ourselves - even if our rain gear was dripped into the sand!

The rain let up by the end of the day and the sun did make a final appearance just long enough to entice the lizards out around our camp. Tonight we are filled with our first taste of camp food and excited for a dry day tomorrow - the day we’ll finally meet Trader Ruin.
