  1. Hi Theresa. Congrats on the release. Can't wait to read it. Am I too early to the party?

  2. I just read the prologue. Again, of course. But it's so much more powerful than the one I critqued for you so long ago. Congrats, Theresa. You have a winner here. So glad to be part of this special day with you. Kathi

  4. Welcome Laurie and Kathy! It's great to see you here!

  5. Hi everyone! I'm the primary blogger on this site. If you've read any of my blogs, you know by now that I'm researching Anasazi ceramics for my dissertation - a study that has lead to the discovery of the effigy ...

    ReplyDelete
  6. Geez, Kathi - after all these years I spell your name wrong. Must be party gitters!

    ReplyDelete
  7. So how much longer before we call you Dr. Danley? That really has a nice ring to it. I've tried to keep up with the blogs and they are great background information. Looking forward to getting the book soon.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hmmm - Dr. Danley - that does have a nice ring to it. Too bad there's so much tuition involved for that title! :)

  9. Hi Theresa, Great idea, I might just borrow it when my book comes out. Love the storyline and I can't wait to read the book. I always wanted to be an archeologist/anthropologist specializing in language and heiroglyphics. It wasn't to be, not back when I was 15-16 years old. So instead, I read everything I can find on the subject. Two years ago I visited the Mexican ruins...so your book fits right in. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I definitely think the book is a hit. Congratulations

    ReplyDelete
  11. Love the book cover BTW!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Okay, entering everyone's name in the hat for our first drawing. And the winner is ...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Congratulations Kathi! You are the winner of our first door prize (Heart of the Desert Pistachios, Caramel Popcorn and Pistachio Clusters from Eagle Ranch) Please e-mail me your mailing address so I can send you your munchies!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Our next featured character is Dr. Anthony Peet, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Utah.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hello. As the professor leading the 2011 field study in Chaco Canyon, Lori was an obvious choice when it came to picking 12 student assistants. I had no idea she would change the entire focus of the dig.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Welcome Fran and Jacque! Glad to have you with us!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Since I visited Chaco Canyon a couple years ago it really helps give a real feel for how the story unfolds.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Chaco's a really cool place for history freaks like me!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Congratulations, Fran! You won our next door prize (Heart of the Desert Pistachio Crunch and Biscotti treats from Eagle Ranch) Please e-mail me your address so I can mail you your munchies!

    ReplyDelete
  20. OMG!!! I actually won something? I already sent you my address. TY. And I'm going back and forth between here and another thing I promised without consulting my date book. Bad me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Okay, just got back from wolfing down dinner. I hope to visit chaco park this summer. I hear it is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Okay, looks like I got 4 names to draw from for the first giveaway of EFFIGY. Sooooo ... mixing up the hat for the big draw ...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Theresa, This is so awsome. I can't wait to but my book. I know everything is going to go great for you. It will be a big hit. JoAnn Hammonds

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi Theresa- I'm so excited to finally be able to read the final revision of this exciting story!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Congratulations Laurie! You are the winner of our first grand prize! Please shoot me an e-mail for your free copy of EFFIGY!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Welcome JoAnn and Jennifer! Glad to have you on board!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Our next featured character is Derek Riesling, student of journalism at the University of Utah.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've always wondered, Theresa, how you became so involved in understanding ancient Latin American civilizations. Did you read about them as a child?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hell yeah I know about Lori and Peet's find of a lifetime. I took some archaeology classes from Peet myself. That's where I first met Lori. I've always known she was destined for big things.

    ReplyDelete
  30. So, is Derek still hot for Lori? That poor boy needs to use other methods to get involved with her. Unless you've made huge changes since I last read your drafts.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Derek- What do you think your chances really are in snagging Lori when there is Peet to contend with? (If I remember right (:

    ReplyDelete
  32. Glad you asked, Jennifer - my research of the Anasazi civilization (for another book) led me south of the border where I first learned about the Toltecs of central Mexico. Throw in all the interest in 2012, and I was hooked. A story began growin in my head and tada! - here we are with EFFIGY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just saw your oops. No big. Lots of people spell it wrong. My mom never did drop the 'e' she always put on the end. So, when will you begin the sequel to this story?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Peet's over-rated. How can Lori overlook a stud like me?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oooh, Kathi - you're making me spill the beans! I am researching for the sequel right now. Got big plans for Peet, Lori and the crew, but (as Forrest Gump would say) that's all I have to say about that! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Okay, getting ready for our next door prize drawing. Stirring the hat ...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ah, darn! Love Derek's response. He's so sure of himself. Too bad he's in for a surprise in the Lori dept. I get the feeling she's a very dedicated person - to her craft.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I step away for a minute and look at what I miss. Wahoo! i knew coming early would pay off. Theresa, I'll send you an e-mail message right now!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Theresa-
Thanks for the invite to the fiesta blog. Great idea! As I have said before, your book sounds exciting and your cover is beautiful. It seems we were just discussing a few weeks ago the anticipation of the release...and now it is here! Best of luck!

    ReplyDelete
  40. When your book comes out hard copy I'd like a signed copy

    ReplyDelete
  41. My daughter's busy little hands are way too helpful. Instead of picking the next winner she spilled the names all over the floor.

    So, after all that ...

Congratulations Jennifer! You won our next door prize (Heart of the Desert Pistachios and Pistachio Crunch from Eagle Ranch) Please e-mail me your address so I can mail out your munchies!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Welcome Lisa and thanks for the congrats! I'm very excited - can anyone tell?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'll sign anyone's copy - that is, if the electronic copy sells well enough to convince the publisher to choose the option to print publish it. Let's all cross our fingers that they will!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Very much so but you deserve it. I've been with you for the whole thing, from when it was about a young girl to the woman Lori became and how well she works out her problems. This is a great idea. It's definitely going down on my list of to do stuff as soon as I sell my first book.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Our next featured character is Shaman Juan Joaquin Gaspar, founder of the New Age Followers of Quetzalcoatl.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Peace be to all as we stand on the doorstep of the New Age.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Kathi - I'll be the first to your party! You've been a great support over the years!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Was Quetzalcoatl the scaly being you have referenced in one of your links? Was he feared or worshiped?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Okay, about time to draw for the next door prize. Double checking that I have everyone's name ...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks! This is a blast. Shaman Gaspar's greeting seems so innocuous from the man I remember. Did you keep him so eerily set on his path?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thank you for asking, Lisa. Quetzalcoatl is known as that feathered serpent and was primarily revered as a peaceful diety who promoted peace and knowledge. Most definately characteristics to look forward to in the new age.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I can't believe I won!
I hope your sequel includes Lori's Dad!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Congratulations JoAnn! You won our next door prize (Heart of the Desert Pistachios and Cookies from Eagle Ranch)!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Looks like the book is filled with a lot of intriguing info. Always great to learn something new. Can't wait to read!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Kathi - I think Shaman Gaspar speaks for himself :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Any thoughts on the best electronic book readers for the least amount of money, anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Lisa - Writing this book challenged me to blend the science with the mythology. I hope you enjoy it!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ah ha. I do see where he's coming from. Definitely a man to listen to about his views.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ooh - good question Jennifer. I've heard nothing but rave reviews on the Ipad though haven't priced them myself just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jennifer-
I hear good things about the Kindle and Nook, but my husband swears the IPad price will come down dramatically. I might hold out for that to get more bang for your buck, even if it takes awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  61. mary martin congratulations on your book . I can't wait to read it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I was just thinking about the I Pad. And really thinking -- I should get an IPad to read Theresa's book.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thanks Mary, and welcome to the party!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Jennifer - I think you should too - wink, wink :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hi Theresa! Congratulations on the book release. I signed myself up to borrow a Kindle from the school for the summer so I can read Effigy on the go!

    -Alec

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hey Alec! Great to have you here! I hope you enjoy the book!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Theresa - Alec and I will have to fight over the Kindle this summer! I have two tins of Ginger Peach tea as a congrats gift for you! Enjoy tonight, a chance to share your accomplishment with friends!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Wow! I love that tea! Thanks Courtney!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Okay, getting ready for the next grand prize drawing for EFFIGY. And the winner is ...

    ReplyDelete
  70. Congratulations Mary! You are the winner of this hour's grand prize! Please shoot me an e-mail for your free copy of EFFIGY!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Our next featured character is Eva Gaspar, daughter of Shaman Gaspar and member of Arizona's Yaqui tribe.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hello everyone. I'm honored to be a guest here, but please don't take anything my father has to say to heart.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Sorry I can't stay to chat for the next hour, but my boys are taking advantage of pushing the limit of their bedtime! This warm weather we are having in PA is giving them "summer" fever! Best of luck!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Wow, Eva. That's good advice. What's your major role in this book?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I've been in and out. Theresa, did you get my e-mail?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Good night Theresa! I enjoyed your blog party! It is hot as heck here in Michigan today- like Mexico must be. I am wishing you many continued and even larger successes!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm in Florida, so it's 2 hours later, and I'm getting sleepy. I hope this is a huge success for you. By the way, I think I said this before, but the cover is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  78. My role - To keep my father from hurting himself and others. Hmmm ....

    ReplyDelete
  79. Just saw that I won a prize, a nutty one at that. Thank you. Will email address.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm a little slow responding - darn dial up. Some day we'll be out of the stone ages!

    Laurie - I'll check my e-mail...

Lisa, Jennifer and Fran - Thank you so much for joining my party. Enjoy your prizes, and if you haven't won anything yet, don't give up. Check back in the morning in case I draw your name!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I just read the prologue to Alec. The suspense is "tearing our hearts out!"

    ReplyDelete
  82. "tearing our hearts out" :)

    Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Theresa - Next time you do this you should come over here and use our DSL, or anytime you need quicker internet for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Okay, it's time for a door prize. I think I have everyone's name so...

    ReplyDelete
  85. john said congratulations on your book.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I was wondering if I was going to draw this name. :)

Congratulations, Jacque! You won our next door prize (Heart of the Desert Pistachios and Caramel Popcorn from Eagle Ranch)!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Thank you, John and welcome to my little party!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Theresa, is obvious you have done a lot of work and research into it and it's very captivating, I enjoyed it very much and know it will do well.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Alec - Ya, that would have been much better! I'll keep that in mind for the sequel! :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. Thank you, Terry! Glad to have another fan on board!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Last, but certainly not lease, our final featured character is Dr. John R. Friedman, Professer Emeritus in Archaeoastronomy and Mesoamerican studies.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Good evening everyone. I must admit I was very surprised when I heard that Dr. Peet and his student discovered such a priceless Mesoamerican artifact in Utah. The jade and turquoise mosaic is stunning to behold.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Laurie - If you're still hanging out, I did get your e-mail address and will send you your copy of EFFIGY soon! Congratulations and thank you for following Lori's blogs! (Any coincidence in the names by chance?)

    ReplyDelete
  94. Hmmm? John, what will this artifact do for your university?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yay, I'm so proud of my cousin! Such an exciting time, and I'm buying my copy from the fiesta lol. And WHEN they come out with it on paperback I'm expecting an autograph for mine please!!!! Love ya girlie! Susie

    ReplyDelete
  96. Ah, but it isn't what the effigy can do for the university, it's what it can offer archaeology in general. It blows the doors wide open on what we currently understand about the ancient peoples of the southwest and their interaction with Mesoamerican cultures.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Ya gotta love family! Thanks Susie! I hope your enjoy the story!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Just about time for our next door prize. Got a couple names to add to the hat...

    ReplyDelete
  99. Congratulations, Alec! You are the winner of our next door prize (Heart of the Desert Pistachios and Clusters from Eagle Ranch)!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Congratulations Theresa! Hope your book does really well.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thanks Theresa. I can't wait to read it seems like forever that we've been waiting for its release

    ReplyDelete

    David

    ReplyDelete
  103. Welcome Sharon and David - and thank you for the well wishes!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Theresa this is such a fun read! I really enjoyed Lori although at times I must admit to being a bit irritated with her -- but she is such a neat character. I enjoyed the way the story weaves myth and technology -- very cool. I've talked up Effigy to all of my reading pals. So, when's the next book coming out?
    Janet

    ReplyDelete
  105. Must bail on the party early. The alarm rings in a little over five hours and it's very late in GA. Love how you put this together, Theresa. We'll have to talk about all the mechanics behind it. Kathi

    ReplyDelete
  106. Hey Kathi - if you're still around, can you resend me your mailing address - I didn't see it in my e-mail. I want to make sure you get your goodies!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Thanks for the sneak peak! I'm excited to read the finished version and couldn't be more excited for you and proud of you! Congrats sis, you did an excellent job!
    Laycee

    ReplyDelete
  108. Welcome Janet! Glad to have you here! The next book - well, I've got to finish it first. But you can be sure I'll keep everyone updated!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Leave it to me to be fashionably late for the party....
Sorry, got carried away with the yardwork- you know we have to get out there whenever it stops raining!
    Lace

    ReplyDelete
  110. It's about time my sister shows up! It's an exciting week!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Congratulations again. We're looking forward to the sequel!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Do they have sombreros in MT?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Sorry, Lace - the Margaritas vanished within the first hour or so. Besides, pregnant ladies aren't supposed to drink! :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. I think the sombreros blew away last week because I sure couldn't find one!

    ReplyDelete
  127. A quick reminder to all you winners - if you haven't done so already, please e-mail me your mailing addresses for your munchies, and those 3 lucky people who won their copy of EFFIGY, please send me your e-mail address!
