I know, I know - It's been too long since I've posted anything on this blog. Shame on me. So what, you are probably wondering, have I been up too since my last blog entry. Well, in short - a lot.
Have I been out booking signings across the country? Not really.
Have I been mysteriously working with Hollywood to produce a motion picture of EFFIGY? In my dreams.
Have I been across the border getting first hand research for my next book? I wish.
Unfortunately, my hiatus has nothing to do with writing or archaeology or history in general. It's been all about personal time. No, my personal life isn't anymore exciting than anyone else's, but for me, it's been a whirlwind just the same. After all, I am now the proud mother of two beautiful daughters. Any parent can relate to just how busy that can be. I've discovered my newest role as bodyguard - keeping toddler daughter from damaging baby daughter. That's a story in itself.
Thank goodness for nap times!
Those precious couple of hours each day have enabled me to attend to another neglected area of my life, my first love - my horses. Having long outgrown the 4-H county and state fairs, I've been wanting and waiting to take my show experience to the next level. Unfortunately, that dream has been patiently waiting for too many years. So a couple of years ago I made it a priority to get back into the ring. Knowing full well that we were in the middle of expanding our family, I decided to start from scratch. I bred my mare and last spring my show horse was born.
Relic is a yearling now - too young yet to ride, but old enough to learn a few things. So, (to use the lingo of the horse world), I've been doing a lot of ground work, preparing for the first rides when he turns two next year.
So now you know where I've been spending most of my time. But wait, this isn't the end of my writing. Not by a long shot! In fact, in the midst of it all the sequel to EFFIGY has been accepted by Whiskey Creek Press and is expected to release early next year. And although my fingers haven't been punching the keyboard as often as they used to, I've already got the next two books lined out in my head.
As far as this blog is concerned - I'm getting back in the saddle and gearing up for a Tour of Tula. And later - a preview of the sequel!
